Overview
Blue Origin is seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to join their fabrication and development teams, focusing on welding and fabrication for aerospace applications. The role involves certifying welds across fabrication teams while contributing to the company's mission of developing reusable space vehicles and systems.
Responsibilities
- Certify welds across fabrication teams.
- Support manufacturing and supply chain operations.
- Inspect welding processes and ensure compliance with national fabrication codes and standards.
- Uphold shop fabrication requirements established in codes and standards.
- Perform welder performance qualification tasks.
- Develop weld maps to track inspections on large assemblies.
- Train cross-functional engineering teams on welding requirements.
Requirements
- Must have Certified Welding Inspector certification (CWI) with minimum 5 years' experience.
- Experience with welding processes: GTAW, FCAW, SMAW.
- Extensive knowledge of NDT processes including VT, PT, MT.
- Experience inspecting to national fabrication codes and standards.
- Ability to learn and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be available to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends.
- Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
