Overview

The Welder I position at Cornerstone Building Brands involves performing MIG welding processes on various structural steel components in a fast-paced production environment. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Engage in MIG welding processes on structural steel components.
• Understand safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed, and gas flow.
• Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
• Decide on adjustments or manipulations needed during welding.
• Repair pin holes and burn throughs caused by auto welders.
• Train and teach proper welding procedures.
• Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
• Maintain specified bead shape, size, and penetration.
• Keep numerical and alphabetical sequences correct.
• Practice continuous improvement in the work area.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification.
• Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation is a plus.
• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools.
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments.
