API Heat Transfer

Overview

API Heat Transfer is seeking a skilled Steel Welder to join their Copper Brass Production team. This role involves welding and fabricating carbon steel components for industrial heat exchangers, emphasizing high-quality work and safety in a team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG, TIG, Flux Core, and/or Stick welding on carbon steel components and assemblies.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions.
• Prepare materials through grinding, fitting, aligning, and positioning prior to welding.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Perform weld repairs as needed.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, lifting devices, and production equipment.
• Accurately complete production and quality documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that drive safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
• Strong measuring and layout skills.
• Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Prior experience in heat exchanger, pressure vessel, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.
• AWS welding certifications preferred.
• Experience operating overhead cranes preferred.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices preferred.
