Overview

Smurfit Westrock's pulp and paper mill located in Longview, WA is seeking to fill a Journey-level Millwright position. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude and be eager to train and develop the necessary skills for success.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures for machinery assembly, dismantling, and overhauling.
• Perform welding duties such as arc welding.
• Use precision tools including veneer calipers, micrometers, and laser alignment tooling.
• Conduct maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks on equipment related to pulp and paper manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years' experience as a Journey level Millwright in an industrial maintenance environment.
• Previous experience in a pulp and paper mill is a plus.
• Formal apprenticeship or education preferred.
• Experience welding carbon and stainless steel.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and read technical documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, twist, kneel, crawl, pull/push, stand, walk, and squat in varying temperatures.
