Overview
At Dearing Compressor & Pump, the QC Inspector performs visual inspections and tests on welded components used in the production process, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications. The company values its employees and fosters a collaborative culture, emphasizing growth and impact.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual external and internal inspections of pressure vessels, structural skids, and sub-bases.
- Ensure fabrication is carried out according to requirements including cutting, tack welding, and fit-up inspection.
- Inspect pressure vessels as per code and procedures.
- Maintain and complete weld maps, heat maps, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure welding is performed by qualified welders according to approved procedures.
- Monitor weld procedures, production testing, and general parameters.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and welding gauges.
- Perform Visual (VT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Dye Penetrant (PT) Testing.
- Witness weld tests for Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) according to ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and API 1104.
- Witness pressure tests and review reports and testing equipment calibration certifications.
- Perform layout and final dimensional inspection of fabricated components.
- Prepare welds for Radiographic Testing (RT) and complete the NDT Inspection Line-up document.
- Document inspection results, create reports, and input data into company systems.
- Identify, document, and manage non-conforming materials and finished products.
- Monitor implementation and outputs of quality control on the project.
Requirements
- At least two years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Must have a clear driving record and be able to pass an annual vision exam.
