Overview
We are seeking a Welder/Fitter for the 2nd Shift at our York, PA location to join our federal team. The role involves planning, fabricating, and welding complex piping and pressure vessel assemblies for Navy vessels, utilizing various welding techniques and materials.
Responsibilities
- Work with isometric drawings, digital 3-D models, operational method sheets, welding symbols, and code specifications.
- Perform floor erection or fixture assembly of pressure vessels and subassemblies.
- Weld in all positions and lay out from center lines or create own layouts as required.
- Prepare material for welding by cleaning, bead blasting, and grinding.
- Weld parts per drawing details, including internal and external components.
- Clean and dress welds to Navy Welding Standards.
- Perform carbon arc or plasma arc gouging.
- Repair welding on defective materials and parts.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area.
Requirements
- Must pass a Navy Military Code Standard 2” diameter pipe test in the 6G position using E7018 filler material.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 3 years welding experience using SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW in all positions.
- Ability to use a tape measure, levels, laser levels, combination square set, and hand tools.
- Ability to use basic mathematics and work from prints, sketches, and written/verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform continuous physical work and handle heavy weight materials.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to work on the US Government contract.
