Overview

The Welder/Brazer position at Tazewell County involves using hand welding equipment to join metal components and ensure quality in the welding process. The role requires attention to detail, dependability, and the ability to meet production goals in a metal fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Verify that parts used in the welding process are consistent and adhere to requirements.
  • Monitor quality to assure consistent and acceptable welds.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure them to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Review and interpret engineer change requests and submit change requests to improve production.
  • Understand and achieve the required number of welded pieces per hour and per job.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Technical certificate or vocational training in welding or equivalent experience.
  • Dependability and reliability in fulfilling obligations.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Integrity and ethical behavior.

Additional Information

  • Full-time position with a standard schedule of 40 hours/week.
  • Production volumes may require voluntary or mandatory overtime on weekdays and/or weekends.
  • Work environment includes frequent exposure to noise, weld fumes, and high-intensity ultraviolet radiation.
  • Constant use of required personal protective equipment is necessary.
