Overview
This National Guard position is for a WELDER - TITLE 32, which involves performing various welding duties as part of the KY MATES, National Guard.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes.
- Pre-heat, braze, tack weld, flame cut, pressure weld, and heat treat metal items.
- Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items.
- Make a variety of joints using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions on equipment.
- Weld or reinforce heavy armor plate.
- Perform precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering, and automotive equipment.
- Braise dissimilar metals and flame cut metal to size for fabrication.
- Utilize sheet metal tools and equipment for repairs and fabrication.
- Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Lay out, position, and clamp work.
- Select type of rod and size of tip for welding.
- Determine heat necessary and adjust equipment accordingly.
- Maintain proper speed, flame motion, tip and angle for desired welding pattern.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
