Overview
This position is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service role focused on maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and testing aircraft engines within the Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). It is specifically for enlisted members of the Louisiana National Guard.
Responsibilities
- Independently inspects aircraft and determines necessary repairs using technical orders.
- Repairs cracks in aircraft skin and fabricates patches to restore strength.
- Troubleshoots structural repair situations in fuselage, tails, wings, and stabilizers.
- Aligns and balances component structures using precision measuring instruments.
- Inspects damage and determines repair or replacement of various materials.
- Assists in fabricating, modifying, and assembling rotary wing aircraft components.
- Assists in cutting, bending, and forming materials using various tools and machines.
- Works with higher graded mechanics on complex operations and attends training.
- Prepares and designs layout, dies, jigs, and templates for fabrication.
- Identifies and treats metal corrosion using various testing and treatment methods.
- Removes corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
