Overview
This position is for the Facilities Management Service at the Seattle & American Lake campuses VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). This is an open continuous announcement with applicants accepted on an ongoing basis until September 30th, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Follow pipe-fitting work procedures specified for recurring and routine work.
- Complete pipe-fitting work in compliance with instructions and established practices.
- Receive, store, identify, issue, and maintain records of tools and materials.
- Inventory all tools at prescribed intervals and check bin cards frequently.
- Pick up materials purchased for specific jobs from the warehouse and label them to job orders.
- Occasionally deliver materials to the job site.
- Perform pipe assembly using various tools and equipment.
- Erect protective enclosures and clean rooms to protect patients and staff from hazards.
- Install, replace, or repair various pipes, flanges, joints, shut-off valves, and unions.
- Eliminate water hammer in steam lines by changing pitch of branches to risers.
- Cover pipes with insulating material and measure threading lengths of pipe.

- Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm.
- Physical requirements include working from ladders and scaffolds, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting heavy items.
