Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Robotic Welder position involves production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.
• Manually position shaft on stationary turner for assembly.
• Move around poles to get into proper position for assembly.
• Use jib crane to lift components into position for assembly.
• Push, lift, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts for assembly.
• Locate and gather parts needed for assembly from the staging area.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel.
• Utilize jigs for cutting holes in shafts for inserting parts.
• Measure distances and angles using tape measure, micrometer, levels, squares, and angle finders.
• Perform basic math operations with measurements.
• Work in confined areas of the pole assembly line as necessary.
• Use motorized grinders, buffers, stone grinders, and drills for assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Keep management informed of training needs.
• Wear protective goggles or hood during work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, or graduation from a Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment is preferred.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools is preferred.
• Ability to check one's own work for quality assurance.
