Overview

The Journeyman-Pipe Welder role involves constructing, installing, and dismantling scaffolding systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements. The position requires a strong understanding of scaffold design, assembly, and safety protocols, along with the ability to work at heights and lead junior scaffolders.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, and dismantle scaffolding systems according to blueprints and safety standards.
  • Assess job sites to determine scaffold needs and plan efficient layouts.
  • Layout, fit up, and install pipe supports and hangers.
  • Qualify and weld on SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW on carbon and stainless steel.
  • Perform flange bolt ups and flange torquing per specifications.
  • Use scaffolding materials safely to create temporary structures for workers at height.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of scaffolding systems to ensure safety.
  • Work in compliance with OSHA standards and local building codes.
  • Set up and operate lifting equipment for scaffolding materials.
  • Provide guidance to junior scaffolders and apprentices on-site.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other trades for timely completion.
  • Maintain and care for scaffolding tools and equipment.
  • Perform quality checks on scaffold systems and correct issues immediately.
  • Follow project timelines to ensure scaffolding is completed on schedule.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Completion of a scaffold builder apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in scaffold building.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of scaffolding materials and applications.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and safety regulations.
  • Physical ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail for secure scaffolding systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot on-site.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Certification in scaffold safety or other relevant trade certifications (preferred).

Additional Information

  • Work is performed on construction job sites, exposed to outdoor elements.
  • Physical labor is required, including lifting and carrying materials.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
