Overview
The Welder position involves operating various tools and equipment to perform welding tasks in multiple positions. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and contributes to the production of quality products.
Responsibilities
- Operate tools necessary for welding including wire feed welders and plasma cutters.
- Weld in all positions such as vertical, flat, and overhead.
- Set up parts and assemblies for welding.
- Prepare machines for carbon and stainless steel of various gauges.
- Use blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts during welding.
- Align parts using hammers, turnbuckles, and pry bars.
- Grind or chip rough edges and surplus welds.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting devices.
- Perform measurement and quality checks and record findings.
- Operate robotic welding equipment.
- Complete tasks safely and efficiently according to company policy.
- Contribute to team efforts in producing quality products.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance and work mandatory overtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent based on education and work experience.
- Preferred Welder Certification.
- Ability to read and use gauges and tape measures.
- Understanding of blueprints and process sheets.
- Basic shop math skills including fractions and measurements.
- Knowledge of welding practices and machine operations.
- Ability to identify and repair weld defects.
- Pass written and hands-on weld tests.
- Pass pulmonary function tests.
