Overview
The Welder position involves welding steel components according to specifications and requires knowledge of various welding techniques and equipment. The role emphasizes safety, equipment maintenance, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and job orders.
Responsibilities
- Weld steel components using specified equipment and instructions.
- Set up and lay out work using fixtures and positioning devices.
- Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, grinders, cutting torches, and other tools as needed.
- Utilize in-process measuring techniques including weld gauges.
- Inspect and correct welds to meet product specifications.
- Read and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
- Cross-train and perform other job tasks as needed.
- Inspect equipment and notify supervisors of repair needs.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
- Complete preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Document actions and communicate needs across work shifts.
- Complete production and quality logs.
- Perform flame cutting or arc welding operations when required.
