Overview
The Field Welder position involves producing welds for the installation of wall panels in commercial buildings, requiring proficiency in various welding techniques and safety practices. Responsibilities
- Perform welds using stick and MIG processes in various positions.
- Maintain current AWS D1.1 SMAW 3G and 4G certifications, with AWS D1.5 SMAW 3G and 4G preferred.
- Maneuver units into position for installation and anchor them.
- Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
- Assist foreman with proper layout for work.
- Accurately measure and read dimensions with a tape measure.
- Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers for alignment.
- Work at heights on elevated platforms.
- Keep the work area clean and productive.
- Exercise proper use of PPE at all times.
- Set up and safely use company equipment.
- Maintain welding certification through logs and supervisor observation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum.
- 1+ year experience with stick welding.
- Field carpentry experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction safety devices and PPE.
