Overview
The Welder - Final Assembly position at Altec involves fabricating, fitting, and welding components according to blueprint standards. Altec is committed to customer satisfaction and values its employees as its greatest strength.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit, and cut to meet blueprint standards
- Perform GMAW and/or FCAW welding using various arc and gas welding equipment
- Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools
- Operate and understand all equipment within the work area
- Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using shop math and layout techniques
- Inspect assembly/components for conformance to specifications
- Read and interpret schematics and work orders
- Use basic hand tools such as tape measures and specialty equipment
- Perform rework as required
- Maintain daily time records and any additional required documentation
- Support APS initiatives and may participate in continuous improvement events
- Move to other work areas to support production needs
- Effectively train new/current associates
- Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures
- Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
- Show commitment to Altec core values
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend
- Basic computer usage knowledge
- Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics
- Welding tech degree/certificate or 2+ years of applicable welding experience
- Obtain AWS D.1.1 weld certification within three months of hire
