Overview

The Welder - Final Assembly position at Altec involves fabricating, fitting, and welding components according to blueprint standards. Altec is committed to customer satisfaction and values its employees as its greatest strength.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit, and cut to meet blueprint standards
  • Perform GMAW and/or FCAW welding using various arc and gas welding equipment
  • Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools
  • Operate and understand all equipment within the work area
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using shop math and layout techniques
  • Inspect assembly/components for conformance to specifications
  • Read and interpret schematics and work orders
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measures and specialty equipment
  • Perform rework as required
  • Maintain daily time records and any additional required documentation
  • Support APS initiatives and may participate in continuous improvement events
  • Move to other work areas to support production needs
  • Effectively train new/current associates
  • Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures
  • Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
  • Show commitment to Altec core values

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend
  • Basic computer usage knowledge
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics
  • Welding tech degree/certificate or 2+ years of applicable welding experience
  • Obtain AWS D.1.1 weld certification within three months of hire
