Overview

Responsibilities
- Apply heat to metal pieces to melt, fuse, and form a permanent bond.
- Work in a repair shop with exposure to welding torches, gases, fumes, and dust.
- Perform strenuous physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working in awkward positions.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
- Three years of experience in welding work.
- Six months of additional welding experience may substitute for each year of the high school or GED requirement.
- Completion of one year of required coursework in a welding curriculum may substitute for six months of experience.
- Valid Maryland class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent out-of-state license.
Additional Information
- Work involves moderate supervision from a technical superior.
- Candidates must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
- Education credentials obtained outside the US must be evaluated for US equivalency.
