Overview
The Welder (Night Shift) position involves performing high-quality welds, inspecting parts, and maintaining safety and cleanliness in the workspace. Candidates should have significant welding experience and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for own welds and quality of weld.
- Inspect pre-existing welds to ensure integrity.
- Inspect parts prior and post weld to meet task requirements.
- Determine the right wire for receiving material with minimal assistance.
- Read and interpret WPS.
- Preheat material according to WPS requirements with minimal supervision.
- Utilize the Oxi-Fuel heating torch with minimal assistance.
- Maintain a clean and organized working area.
- Possess strong knowledge of fabrication tools.
- Read blueprints/drawings to determine tasks with minimal supervision.
- Follow job routers and clock hours properly.
- Set up weld machine with minimal assistance per related WPS.
- Utilize cranes and hoists when appropriate.
- Use forklifts as needed.
- Have strong knowledge of welding practices and standards.
- Assist junior-level welders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5-7 years of traditional welding experience.
- Vocational education or relevant training is preferred.
- Job shop and welding experience is a plus.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Must be safety conscious and report hazards.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts.
- Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds.
