Overview

Ground Supply Equipment (GSE) Technicians at Southwest Airlines are responsible for maintaining and repairing ground equipment like trucks and de-icing gear, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations. Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and repairs various types of automotive, ramp, provisioning, and deicing equipment.
  • Performs both preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on all airline ground equipment.
  • Attends initial and ongoing training to maintain proficiency in work.
  • Creates and tracks work orders in a maintenance tracking program.
  • Wears Company visual identification card for recognition.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or automotive/equipment repair technical degree preferred.
  • 3 years of heavy truck and/or equipment repair experience with a technical degree required.
  • 5 years of heavy truck and/or equipment repair experience in lieu of a technical degree required.
  • Proficiency in the maintenance and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to perform minor or major body repair.
  • Ability to read documents and follow instructions.
  • Ability to read and research technical manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
  • Proficiency in arc, gas, and MIG welding, as well as cutting torch.
  • Proficiency in metal fabrication and equipment spray painting.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • ASE and A/C Certification preferred.
