Overview
Ground Supply Equipment (GSE) Technicians at Southwest Airlines are responsible for maintaining and repairing ground equipment like trucks and de-icing gear, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations. Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and repairs various types of automotive, ramp, provisioning, and deicing equipment.
- Performs both preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on all airline ground equipment.
- Attends initial and ongoing training to maintain proficiency in work.
- Creates and tracks work orders in a maintenance tracking program.
- Wears Company visual identification card for recognition.
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or automotive/equipment repair technical degree preferred.
- 3 years of heavy truck and/or equipment repair experience with a technical degree required.
- 5 years of heavy truck and/or equipment repair experience in lieu of a technical degree required.
- Proficiency in the maintenance and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to perform minor or major body repair.
- Ability to read documents and follow instructions.
- Ability to read and research technical manuals and schematics.
- Ability to work under tight time constraints.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form.
- Proficiency in arc, gas, and MIG welding, as well as cutting torch.
- Proficiency in metal fabrication and equipment spray painting.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
- ASE and A/C Certification preferred.
