Overview

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is seeking a Mechanic III to manage maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance, and operations of all physical plant equipment and clinical engineering equipment. This role requires knowledge of various systems and will involve collaboration with staff to ensure safety and efficiency in hospital operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance to plumbing, electrical equipment, HVAC equipment, control systems, and refrigeration systems.
• Manage repairs and maintenance on communication systems using in-house personnel or outside vendors.
• Ensure comprehensive grounds maintenance for safety and appearance.
• Assist other department personnel with non-maintenance tasks.
• Complete annual performance evaluations on time.
• Advise the Director on structural changes and prepare plans for alterations.
• Maintain and update Standards of Operation documentation related to JCAHO.
• Work with outside vendors on energy management programs and equipment.
• Plan and schedule repairs from outside vendors without affecting daily operations.
• Act as in-house Fire Marshall, Safety Officer, and Security Officer.
• Evaluate mechanical and electrical systems annually for improvements.
• Collaborate with personnel to assist and train Plant Operations staff.
• Act as Director in their absence, completing all necessary paperwork.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in all Plant Operations areas.
• Assist Plant Operations technicians as needed.
• Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Respond to all emergency codes.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience required.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, control, electronic, cooling/heating, and emergency power systems.
