Overview

The Transportation Maint Tech I position at TxDOT involves performing routine transportation operations and maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance, equipment operation, and traffic control. This role is essential for assisting the public during emergencies and requires minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs and delineators.
• Provide support to local law enforcement at accident sites.
• Assist with traffic control by placing and gathering cones and signs.
• Determine placement of traffic control devices and install/move them.
• Maintain highways and rights-of-way, performing roadway repairs.
• Pick up litter and roadway debris.
• Operate light equipment such as front-end loaders and street sweepers.
• Maintain construction project records and process related paperwork.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• No education required.
• No experience required.
• Valid driver's license at the time of application.
• Must obtain a Commercial Class 'A' Driver's License with an 'N' Endorsement within 120 days of employment.

Additional Information

• Full-time position located at the North Harris Maintenance Office in Houston.
• Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis.
