Overview

We currently have an opportunity for a detail-oriented Electric Propulsion Thruster Technician A to build space-qualified ion thrusters for satellites and other spacecraft at our Torrance, California location. In this full-time hourly position, you will be involved in all aspects of electric thruster manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Build space-qualified ion thrusters for satellites and other spacecraft.
  • Perform gas tungsten arc welding, laser welding, spot welding, and hydro-forming.
  • Conduct high-voltage and resistance measurements using hi-potters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
  • Work in a clean-room environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the manufacture of precision electronic products.
  • Knowledge in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices.
  • Previous experience building electric thrusters preferred.
  • Ability to work from written instructions, specification documents, blueprints, assembly instructions, and schematics.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Availability for overtime if required by workload or schedule.
  • Must be able to learn how to weld and become welding certified if not already skilled.
  • Basic computer skills to input product data into appropriate records.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds no higher than shoulder height.
  • Pass a NASA eye exam and be able to identify color codes.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
