Overview
The Water Utility Worker position involves installing, maintaining, operating, replacing, and repairing water mains, services, fire hydrants, water meters, and related equipment. This role is part of the Department of Water and Power with a salary range that varies based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair water mains.
- Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair water services.
- Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair fire hydrants.
- Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair water meters.
- Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair appurtenant valves and equipment.
Requirements
- Eighteen months of full-time paid experience in the installation and either operation and/or maintenance of potable water services and distribution pipelines.
- Experience must include working with pipelines at least 6 inches in diameter.
- A California State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator Grade D2 certificate may be required prior to completion of the probationary period.
- Valid Class B (or A) driver’s license issued by the California DMV and a valid medical certificate approved by the DMV is required at the time of appointment.
