Overview
We're hiring a Pyrometry Technician for the 1st shift at Howmet Aerospace Inc., offering $35/hr plus eligibility for annual bonuses. The company is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical components including motors, controls, sensors, relays, and PLCs.
- Perform Hydrogen Burnout on Vacuum Furnaces.
- Handle mechanical tasks involving bearings, seals, hydraulics, pneumatics, fans, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Conduct leak detection and rebuilds on vacuum systems including pumps and valves.
- Calibrate instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure gauges, and flowmeters.
- Follow OEM preventive maintenance schedules for various furnace brands.
- Perform basic TIG/MIG welding and fabrication for repairs.
- Read schematics and blueprints, and interpret maintenance manuals.
- Utilize CMMS for work orders and preventive maintenance tracking.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience in aerospace, heat treating, or heavy industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience with vacuum furnaces, atmosphere furnaces, ovens, and support equipment.
- Experience maintaining pyrometry systems and performing temperature uniformity surveys and system accuracy tests per AMS 2750.
- Knowledge of NADCAP heat treat compliance and AS9100.
- Certifications in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, forklift, and manlift.
- Safety training in oxygen/fuel gas handling and high-pressure gas systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize urgent breakdowns versus planned preventive maintenance.
- Comfortable working off-shift or on-call during furnace downtime/repairs.
- Good communication skills for collaboration with operators, engineers, and QA.
- Accurate documentation of repairs and calibrations to meet aerospace audit requirements.
