At Northrop Grumman, employees work on revolutionary systems impacting lives globally. The Heat Treat Manufacturing Technician role involves setting up and operating equipment to alter the properties of metal and plastic objects, supporting missions critical to national and global security.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor heating equipment such as furnaces, ovens, quench tanks, and induction machines.
  • Load and unload parts into and out of furnaces using forklifts, tongs, or hoists.
  • Adjust temperature, time, and atmosphere controls based on blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections and perform hardness testing on treated materials.
  • Accurately log production data into MRP/ERP systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • For Level 2, 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or heat treat environment is required.
  • For Level 3, 4 years of experience in a manufacturing or heat treat environment is required.
  • Familiarity with aerospace alloys (Titanium, Nickel, Aluminum, Steel).
  • Experience with vacuum/atmosphere furnaces and pyrometry.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of production and quality control processes.
  • Knowledge of hardness testing and metallurgical principles.
  • Ability to lift 35-50 lbs., stand for long periods, and work in hot and loud environments.
