Overview
Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is seeking a Mechanical Technician Senior to support the fabrication, integration, and testing of space flight systems. This position is based in El Segundo, California, and requires a commitment to innovation and collaboration in a fast-paced environment focused on national security.
Responsibilities
- Assembles, installs, tests, checks out and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications.
- Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings and specifications.
- Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Operates a wide range of machine tools including drill presses and grinders.
- Interfaces with Design and Manufacturing Engineering on procedural issues.
- Supports in other mechanical areas as required by leadership.
- Cross-trains and mentors new hires.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, and/or Final Assembly.
- More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions.
- More than 3 years of experience working with blueprints and assembly drawings.
- More than 3 years of experience using precision measuring tools.
- More than 3 years of experience working with materials like Adhesives and Composites.
- Ability to stand and move to handle products for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis.
