Overview

The Casting Welder position involves welding repair of aerospace magnesium parts and aluminum sand castings at Chicago Magnesium, requiring approximately 20-30 hours of welding per week.

Responsibilities

• Review and inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
• Complete, date, and sign-off on all routing information; apply weld stamp where applicable; input required production data/reporting.
• May machine and prepare castings for weld plugs and plug castings.
• Machine excess stock from castings with a milling machine.
• Wear proper safety equipment and keep the work area clean and safe at all times.
• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
• Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.

Requirements

• 2 - 3 years of previous TIG Welding experience (preferred).
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform assigned tasks.
• Good communication skills.
• Completion of Welding coursework/certification.
