Overview
Victaulic is seeking an experienced Welding Trainer to support the development and advancement of employee welding capabilities across multiple fabrication sites. This position involves evaluating skill levels, developing structured training programs, and delivering hands-on instruction in welding processes to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate employee welding skills to identify strengths, gaps, and development opportunities.
- Provide hands-on training in pipe and plate welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and other arc welding methods.
- Develop and deliver training materials, including guides, presentations, and videos.
- Conduct welder testing and certification activities, ensuring compliance with AWS, ASME, and other applicable standards.
- Interview and assess internal and external welder candidates for skill level, technical knowledge, and certification readiness.
- Create and implement individualized training plans to advance employee skill progression.
- Track and monitor trainee progress, providing consistent feedback, coaching, and performance guidance.
- Identify high-potential employees for advanced welding roles and support career development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of certifications, qualifications, and training progress.
- Stay current on welding technologies, processes, and industry advancements, integrating updates into training programs.
- Support training initiatives related to robotic welding systems; programming experience preferred.
- Reinforce compliance with company safety standards, as well as FEM/5S principles and workplace expectations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional welding certifications or training credentials preferred.
- Proven experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication, or a related industrial environment.
- Extensive experience in pipe welding and stainless-steel welding applications.
- Advanced knowledge of welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and related techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in welder qualification testing and certification processes.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASTM, AWS, ASME, AWWA).
- Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical schematics.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to mentor and influence others positively.
- Proficiency in shop math and precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Computer competency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with robotic welding systems and programming is preferred.

- Location: Justin, Texas
- Travel: Approximately 50% travel to Houston, Texas and Kansas City, Missouri.
- Combination of shop floor and training environment exposure.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform hands-on training activities for extended periods.
- Exposure to typical welding and fabrication environments, including heat, noise, and fumes, with appropriate PPE requirements.
