Overview

TeamWRX Staffing is seeking experienced Structural Steel Fitters to join a growing heavy manufacturing operation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This role involves precision fitting and heavy fabrication on large structural steel projects, contributing to critical infrastructure across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications.
  • Lay out, fit, assemble, and tack structural steel components prior to welding.
  • Fabricate multi-component assemblies using precision measuring techniques.
  • Perform fitting, joining, fabrication, and repair of structural steel and other weldable materials.
  • Utilize jigs, fixtures, templates, and layout tools to ensure proper fit-up.
  • Operate grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, press brakes, and additional fabrication equipment.
  • Measure materials using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision instruments.
  • Assist with MIG, TIG, FCAW, and other welding preparation activities.
  • Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, hoists, slings, and material handling equipment safely.
  • Fabricate sheet metal, piping, ductwork, and heavy steel assemblies as required.
  • Perform pipe threading, plasma cutting, and fabrication support activities.
  • Inspect completed fit-ups to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and weld quality requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
  • Cross-train in additional fabrication and production responsibilities as needed.
  • Work collaboratively to meet production schedules while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural steel fitting, fabrication, or related experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Strong understanding of fitting techniques and fabrication processes.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes and jib cranes.
  • Mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Ability to work overtime and either 1st or 2nd shift as business needs require.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality craftsmanship.
