Overview
Mission Critical Group (MCG) is a provider of power solutions and services, focusing on delivering scalable infrastructure for mission critical environments. The Metal Shop Lead role involves coordinating fabrication functions in the metal shop to support the assembly of custom switchgear structures, ensuring products meet client specifications and maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Metal Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations and meet productivity, efficiency, and quality standards.
- Monitor and report project progress using established software and internal tracking processes.
- Identify, propose, and implement enhancements to metal shop workflows.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Metal Shop Supervisor during absences.
- Provide hands-on training and technical coaching to technicians.
- Monitor team output and provide input on performance evaluations and development needs.
- Participate in the interview process for departmental vacancies and lead onboarding of new hires.
- Coordinate overtime scheduling and labor allocation to meet operational targets.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure adherence to safety policies.
- Oversee and perform routine maintenance programs for equipment.
- Coordinate final preparation and staging of materials for shipments.
- Participate in advanced operational, safety, and leadership training.
Requirements
- Minimum 4–5 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor's or Technical College degree or diploma in a related field is a plus.
- Ability to motivate a diverse team and foster a collaborative environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and resolve issues autonomously.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret complex schematics and blueprints.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools with high accuracy.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure under pressure.
Additional Information
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday; 6AM-4:30PM.
