Overview
Inspector A performs inspections of complex parts and assemblies under limited supervision, requiring mechanical ability and experience with various components. The role involves using inspection gauges and instruments, documenting results, and collaborating with other departments to resolve quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Performs required inspections of complex parts and assemblies using complicated blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
- Documents inspection results and makes decisions regarding inspection problems.
- Skillfully uses all inspection gauges and instruments, including their set up, analysis, and adjustment.
- Calibrates measuring gauges and equipment as directed.
- May lead and assist other inspectors and make set ups for their use.
- Moves parts and materials to and from work area.
- Works closely with Engineering, Assembly/Test, and Operations to resolve quality issues.
- May be Level I Operator or Level II Inspector in areas such as liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, or eddy currents.
- Maintains a clean well-organized work area.
- Interacts with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, advanced technical education preferred.
- Requires five years’ experience as an inspector with demonstrated acceptable performance.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Works from complicated blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
- Requires the use of standard shop math, including trigonometry and geometry.
- Understanding of basic electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
