Overview

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer I to provide technical support, installation, and maintenance for plasma etch and deposition systems. This remote position requires extensive travel across North America, particularly in the New York/New Jersey area, to ensure customer satisfaction and support cutting-edge semiconductor technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the installation and commissioning of advanced plasma etch and deposition systems.
• Execute scheduled and emergency maintenance with precision.
• Build trust and long-term relationships through responsive communication and hands-on training.
• Resolve complex hardware and software issues using specialized tools.
• Calibrate critical components and implement performance-enhancing upgrades.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of field service experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Hands-on experience with vacuum technologies and troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Proficient with diagnostic instruments such as vacuum leak detectors and RF power meters.
• Strong understanding of RF theory and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) systems.

• Candidates must reside within reasonable travel time of a major airport.
• Extensive weekday travel is required to support customer installations and service needs.
