Overview
Onyett Fabricators, established in 1999, provides fabrication and field services, welding, and structural metalwork for the coal, aggregate, and construction industries. The Welder is responsible for using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to join metal components and ensure the quality of fabricated metal products.
Responsibilities
- Uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
- Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
- Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arcs to complete electrical circuits.
- Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifies supervisors.
- Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts component parts for welding.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using various welding processes.
- Monitors fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or distortion.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measures them to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
