Overview
The Welder position involves a variety of welding processes including MIG, TIG, robotic, and gas applications to fabricate or repair products according to blueprints and work orders. The role requires a working knowledge of welding materials and equipment, and employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug examination.
Responsibilities
- Mark-up incorrect drawings and bills of material, submit to engineering and plan for change.
- Communicate with engineers and designers on problems regarding production tools.
- Fabricate components from blueprints and verbal instructions.
- Perform assignments in accordance with written quality procedures.
- Use cutting torches, grinders, and similar metal working equipment to complete welding projects.
- Ensure compliance to safety rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to be on feet for up to twelve hours and handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Capable of lifting and moving up to 15 pounds and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Experience working near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices.
- Occasional exposure to airborne particles.
- Perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Knowledge of decimals, fractions, and metric/English conversions.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce variation and waste in the manufacturing process.
- Work closely in training new welders.
- Lift and position parts into fixtures.
