At Sierra Space, we build missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth. The Welder Technician IV is responsible for performing expert-level welding tasks in a variety of repair and fabrication work in mechanical and fluid systems in preparation for launch operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert-level welding tasks in mechanical and fluid systems.
• Align and weld components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products.
• Utilize different types of welding systems for various tasks.
• Perform expert equipment setup and maintenance.
• Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances.
• Lead and mentor welding projects while collaborating with engineers.
• Work from technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions.
• Adhere to shop safety and best practices, including PPE requirements.
• Record daily work completion accurately and report to the lead technician.
• Contribute to enhancing operations and streamlining workflows.

Requirements

• Typically 8+ years of related experience.
• Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for non-flight parts.
• Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
• Ability to follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.
• Expert understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and Orbital arc welding.
