Overview
Amentum, NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider, is seeking a Machinist I to assist in the planning, layout, machining, and assembly of parts and tools for deep space exploration. This role requires teamwork and creativity to contribute to projects that inspire global audiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, layout, machining, and assembly of parts and tools to precision tolerances.
- Set and operate various machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Plan and determine machining operations and cutting tools under supervision.
- Make simple layouts on parts involving compound angles.
- Set up machines to perform basic functions independently.
- Offer simple technical advice to engineers and customers.
- Work from detailed drawings, templates, sketches, or oral instructions.
- Learn to program and operate at least one CNC language.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Organize and properly store inventory and materials.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of machinist experience.
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with at least one CNC programming language.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Additional Information
- 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) if applicable.
