Overview
The Electrician Technician role involves planning, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. A Journeyman License is required, along with relevant experience in an industrial setting.
Responsibilities
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste and ensure compliance with local electrical codes.
- Prepares sketches or follows diagrams for wiring and equipment locations.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
- Pulls wiring through conduit.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation and twisting or soldering them together.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, and machinery.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connects power cables to equipment.
- Tests circuit continuity to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Observes equipment functioning to detect hazards and need for adjustments.
- Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
- Discusses layouts and problems with supervision and engineering.
- Assembles experimental circuitry or prototype models.
- Recommends changes to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Sets up test apparatus to evaluate performance and reliability.
- Analyzes and interprets test data.
- Adjusts, calibrates, and modifies circuitry and components.
- Checks functioning of newly installed equipment under actual conditions.
