Overview

The Electrician Technician role involves planning, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. A Journeyman License is required, along with relevant experience in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste and ensure compliance with local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches or follows diagrams for wiring and equipment locations.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation and twisting or soldering them together.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, and machinery.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment.
  • Tests circuit continuity to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • Observes equipment functioning to detect hazards and need for adjustments.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Discusses layouts and problems with supervision and engineering.
  • Assembles experimental circuitry or prototype models.
  • Recommends changes to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Sets up test apparatus to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Analyzes and interprets test data.
  • Adjusts, calibrates, and modifies circuitry and components.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment under actual conditions.
