Overview
MRC Polymers Inc. is a company that produces engineered recycled materials for automotive manufacturers and suppliers. The Level 1 Maintenance Technician will assist the maintenance team with troubleshooting, repairing, and performing routine preventative maintenance on equipment and the building.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a basic level of mechanical expertise regarding chain repairs, sprockets, belts, gearbox, shaft alignments, and replacing pumps and pump seals.
- Assist in the performance and documentation of preventative maintenance.
- Perform or assist in troubleshooting, corrective, and preventative maintenance to all equipment, systems, and building.
- Maintain and perform basic MIG, TIG, Arc, and Spot Welding with fire watch supervision.
- Weld metal components together to fabricate and/or repair products or equipment according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase the size of metal parts.
- Use brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
- Position and clamp components of fabricated metal products preparatory to weld.
- Ensure proper coverage for fire watch is in place prior to performing hot work actions.
- Learn basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting under direct supervision of a certified electrician.
- Follow all maintenance safety protocols and lead by example.
- Perform, document, and report routine calibrations and results as required.
- Inform the supervisor of any safety-related issues, damaged equipment, or spare parts needed.
- Understand and perform all procedures on equipment per training and attend all required training sessions.
- Ensure housekeeping in the repair shop and around the equipment is maintained.
- Work closely with production employees to ensure safe, proper operation of production equipment.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement through support of business and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including general housekeeping.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (trade school).
- 2 or more years of experience in the manufacturing/construction environment.
- 2 or more years of sit-down propane forklift and scissor lift experience required.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, such as multimeters, ammeters, drills, grinders, and welders.
- Some experience in metal fabrication, using a torch, plasma cutter, and welder.
- Some experience in MIG, TIG, Arc, and spot welding.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform basic math operations.
- Organized with attention to detail and time management skills.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Additional Information
- This role is for third shift (10:00 pm to 6:30 am) at the Chicago location.
- This is an onsite role.
- The job operates inside a warehouse and outdoor area where the temperature may vary.
