Overview

The Maintenance Worker position involves assisting in the routine maintenance, operation, and repair of public buildings and structures, including conducting inspections and performing minor repairs. The role requires a valid NYS Motor Vehicle Driver's License and may involve working at various satellite offices across the five boroughs of NYCHA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs of building electrical devices and related CCTV equipment.
• Make minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring, and walls.
• Make minor repairs to building electrical and plumbing systems in common areas and satellite offices.
• Assist in relocating building equipment as directed.
• Visually inspect public buildings, structures, and equipment for defects and hazardous conditions.
• Prepare reports and keep records.
• Assist law enforcement and governmental agencies with investigations and video evidence.
• Appear and testify in court regarding video authenticity.
• Operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites.
• Remove and install equipment that requires lifting and moving.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies for the Office of Safety and Security.

Requirements

• Three years of full-time satisfactory experience in the electrical or mechanical trades, or building maintenance.
• At least two years of experience plus sufficient training or education in relevant trades to equal three years of experience.
• A valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Ability to respond to after-hours CCTV emergencies.
• Computer skills to navigate closed circuit television software.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Knowledge of CCTV systems.
• Electrical experience preferred.
• Knowledge of layered access control systems and magnetic door locks.
