Overview
The Electrical Diagnostic Technician / Electrician position at the Car Equipment Division involves skilled electrical work in troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of electrical and electronic equipment on PATH's fleet of railcars. PATH operates as a key transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, test, repair, and rewire electrical and electronic equipment of railcar subsystems.
- Perform extensive fault log downloads using computerized Portable Test Equipment for troubleshooting.
- Remove, install, assemble, and disassemble various railcar systems and perform repairs in the Electrical Shop.
- Use electrical and electronic test equipment for troubleshooting and repair of railcar defects.
- Clean electrical and electronic assemblies and components associated with railcar systems.
- Use hand and power tools in the performance of duties.
- Work in accordance with established service and maintenance procedures and regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Four years paid full-time work experience as a journeyman in the Electrical trade or completion of a registered Car Equipment Electrician Apprentice Program.
- Knowledge and experience with hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
