Overview

The Electrical Technician position at DRPA involves maintaining and improving the electrical integrity of bridge infrastructure in Camden, NJ. This full-time role requires passing various tests and adhering to safety regulations while ensuring a safe environment for employees and patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Handle high voltage, transformers, lighting, etc.
  • Analyze bridge lighting and house services.
  • Install new services to upgrade the facility.
  • Maintain current electrical equipment and services.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code upgrade specifications.
  • Operate motorized equipment and vehicles safely.
  • Assist in Maintenance and Protection of Traffic management.
  • Coordinate activities of outside contractors.
  • Be available for emergencies beyond normal duty hours.
  • Report unusual conditions and take corrective actions.
  • Operate radio equipment under FCC guidelines.
  • Service emergency backup systems, generators, and batteries.
  • Plan details of working procedures for repairs and replacements.
  • Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings for installations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain communication and power distribution cables.
  • Work on street lighting and clean fixtures throughout the facility.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance programs.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as aerial lifts and cranes.
  • Assist other departments during emergencies or snowstorms.
  • Participate in training for safety and hazard recognition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 years combined industrial and commercial electrical hands-on experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E regulations.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with air brakes and tanker endorsement.
  • Ability to work with high precision and attention to safety.
