Overview

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, with over 20,000 employees across the United States. They are looking for Pipefitters in the Decatur, AL area to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems for various industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping and piping systems.
• Select and inspect proper safety gear for work tasks.
• Inspect worksites for obstructions and structural integrity.
• Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipe as required.
• Assemble and install various metal and nonmetal pipe fittings.
• Join pipe using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets, supports, and hangers.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
• Test piping systems for leaks.
• Utilize various power tools for pipe preparation.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to four years of experience in pipefitting, depending on mechanic level.
• Basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches, and engineering drawings for A-class Pipefitters.
• Ability to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique.
• Proficient in reading and utilizing a tape measure.
• Understanding of how to use a framing square in pipefitting tasks.
• Knowledge of power tools for cutting, welding, threading, and bolting.
• Ability to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups for A-class pipefitters.
• Must pass post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.

Additional Information

• Position is non-exempt and reports to the Foreman.
• Physical involvement may include climbing, lifting 30 to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions.
