Overview

The Welder position involves repairing and constructing fabricated products for Frontier-Kemper’s Mining and Civil Divisions, as well as OEM equipment for outside customers. A positive, safety-conscious attitude and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company policies and ensure safety for themselves and others.
  • Complete work assigned by management efficiently and accurately.
  • Provide high quality and accurate fabricated items based on supplied drawings.
  • Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Evaluate equipment to assess damage and wear.
  • Perform periodic facility maintenance and repairs in the shop.
  • Collaborate with all departments to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Meet physical demands including walking on uneven surfaces and lifting heavy objects.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AWS D1.1 Certified for structural welding.
  • Experience with SMAW (stick), MIG (wire), and TIG welding methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform layout work.
  • Must supply own tools.
  • 5 years related experience preferred.
  • Structural steel experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with shop practices including machine work, mechanical repair, and steel fabrication.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Regular attendance is essential due to the contractual nature of the work.

What you'll be running
