Overview
Precinct 4 is seeking a motivated and highly driven Mechanic to join their Road & Bridge team, responsible for maintaining and repairing all machinery and vehicles while ensuring safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work diligently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
- Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.).
- Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks).
- Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
- Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
- Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
- Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
- Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle end users.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.
Requirements
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, willingness to learn, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information
- Regular full-time position, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week, which may include weekends and holidays.
- Work involves exposure to hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations, chemicals, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
- Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
