Overview

Herc Rentals is a leading equipment rental supplier in North America, seeking a Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance operations at their South Houston branch. The Mechanic A will utilize their expertise to ensure equipment is ready for rental through effective maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent schedule for preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at the branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure it meets quality and efficiency standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks independently.
• Diagnose internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Conduct major repairs using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments independently.
• Perform oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
• Assist shop lead with customer damage estimates and repairs.
• Enter and review work orders and complete part ordering via the fleet management system.
• Recondition and replace assorted parts of the heavy equipment.
• Diagnose problem areas for significant wear or tear on the equipment.
• Take service calls when shop lead is absent and dispatch Field Service Mechanic.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Assist in training 'C' and 'B' Mechanics while taking direction from the shop lead.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience repairing heavy equipment.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 LBs.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.
