Overview
The City of Azusa is seeking qualified candidates for two vacancies as Street Maintenance Worker I or II, depending on qualifications. The role involves performing various tasks related to the maintenance and servicing of city streets and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled, semi-skilled, or unskilled tasks in the construction and maintenance of city streets, sewers, and traffic systems.
- Operate heavy construction and maintenance equipment to excavate, grade, trench, and load materials.
- Set, form, pour, and finish concrete for repairs to curbs, gutters, driveways, and sidewalks.
- Assist in the repair of storm drains, catch basins, and storm drainpipes.
- Maintain sewers and operate maintenance equipment such as sewer rodder and hydraulic jet cleaner.
- Remove, replace, and repair street signs and perform minor traffic striping.
- Respond to emergency calls and take appropriate actions such as placing barricades and repairing sewer lines.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and assist skilled maintenance personnel.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Street Maintenance Worker I: One year of experience with grounds, street, and/or building maintenance.
- Street Maintenance Worker II: Two years of experience in street and/or building maintenance or one year as a Street Maintenance Worker I.
- Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License with Tank Combination Endorsement.
- Ability to obtain a Class B California driver's license with Tank Combination Endorsement.
- Knowledge of common tools and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
- Ability to lift 90 pounds regularly and perform heavy manual work.

Additional Information
- Work is primarily outdoors at city street locations.
- Required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
