Overview
Transdev is hiring a B Mechanic for their fixed route transit service in Nassau County, offering a starting hourly rate of $31.9404 with progression to $35.4893 over two years. The role involves performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing minor to moderate problems on various vehicle types.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on coaches as needed.
- Perform inspections on all types of vehicles and repair systems/parts when needed.
- Use preventative maintenance checklist to verify repairs.
- Repair and inspect engine, battery, lights, gauges, safety equipment, and other components.
- Document all work performed in RTA software.
- Utilize RTA to assist with diagnosing vehicle trends.
- Diagnose and repair coaches focusing on minor to moderate problems.
- Use repair manuals and parts manuals for making repairs.
- Inspect and verify problems on coaches using diagnostic equipment.
- Perform both in-house and road call coach repairs using various tools.
- Clean, repair, and replace coach equipment as required.
- Test coaches for proper working order.
- Assist Class A and C technicians with repair work as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- ASE Certifications preferred.
- Three years recent progressive heavy equipment maintenance or four years automotive mechanical experience required.
- Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses, or seminars desirable.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in diagnostic computer equipment required.
- Basic understanding of the design, adjustment, overhaul operation, and maintenance of bus components.
- Good communication skills.
- Autonomous and self-directed.
- Basic math skills.
- Physically agile and able to lift up to seventy-five pounds.
- Basic 2-way radio skills required.
- Basic tools required.
- Clean NY State driving record.
- Must obtain a valid Class B CDL license with passenger and air brake endorsements.
