Overview
South Jersey Gas is a natural gas utility company dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable clean energy to over 400,000 customers in New Jersey. The Operations Technician position involves various utility work, including customer service, leak investigations, and maintenance of gas distribution systems.
Responsibilities
- Completing all phases of core utility work regarding customer service and meter and gas pressure regulator installations.
- Conducting leak investigations and responding to emergencies of any nature.
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining distribution mains and services.
- Operating mechanical equipment.
- Performing other duties as defined by the CBA for the Street/Utility Job Family.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- All applicants must pass pre-employment hands-on assessment.
- A valid NJ Driver’s License.
- Must be available for standby responsibilities and emergency work when required.

Additional Information
- Days & Hours: Must be flexible to work 8 or 10-hour shifts as assigned.
- This is a DOT-covered position and will be subject to random drug screening.
