Overview

Holtec International is seeking a Piping Engineer (SMR-300) to join a multidisciplinary team designing the next generation nuclear power plant. The role involves performing nuclear piping flexibility and rupture analysis, designing and analyzing mechanical components, and supporting engineering and licensing requirements for the SMR-300 plant.

Responsibilities

• Extract plant configuration files from Smart 3D model and generate an AutoPIPE native file.
• Incorporate applicable loading and load combinations based on system design descriptions and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
• Use AutoPIPE to locate supports with appropriate stiffness.
• Identify areas of critical over stress regions and recommend routing and support changes.
• Design optimal pipe supports when standard supports are inadequate.
• Locate postulated lead and break points for rupture evaluation.
• Review sketches and conceptual design information for development.
• Perform independent verification, validation, and oversight of engineering methods.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external organizations.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and colleagues, including other subject matter experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical, Materials, or closely related Engineering field.
• Ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Design or Lead Engineer, Senior or Mechanical Engineer, or closely related engineering position.
• Ten (10) years design experience using ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section III) to design piping and pipe supports.
• Five (5) years of nuclear experience, such as NSSS vendor, EPC, utility, or engineering consulting.
• Working knowledge of analytical tools such as AutoPIPE, CAESAR II, ANSYS.
• Working knowledge of various pipe supports and experience designing and analyzing pipe support and supplementary steel.
• Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
