Overview

SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Welder (Starship) - Temporary position involves participating in an accelerated training program to qualify for welding on the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles, focusing on mastering fabrication skills under expert mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform GTAW class A welds and fabricate metal components to specifications.
  • Collaborate with lead welder to assess proper weld procedures and materials.
  • Analyze engineering drawings to plan welding operations.
  • Continuously improve operations and streamline work processes.
  • Weld assembly and fabrication of various structures and assemblies.
  • Communicate effectively with management and engineering staff.
  • Modify, repair, assemble, and install launch vehicles.
  • Check work for completeness per drawings.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials properly.
  • Install and assemble tooling and machinery for building tank structures.
  • Set up safety equipment and work platforms at elevation.
  • Operate general shop equipment and vehicles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ month of welding experience or certificate from an accredited program.
  • 3+ years of experience in TIG welding with various materials preferred.
  • Proficient in tube cutting, grinding, and fabrication.
  • Experience in class A welds.
  • Certifications with AWS D17.1 and D1.2 preferred.
  • Knowledge of DC welding techniques and engineering requirements.
  • Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to adapt rapidly in a high-paced work environment.

Additional Information

  • This is a temporary position lasting 1 month.
  • Location: Brownsville, TX.
  • Must be available for all shifts, including overtime and weekends.
